Bereavement Hospitality Services was founded as a direct result of personal experiences by one of the founders of the company. His Uncle had passed away unexpectedly and as a result his father (who lives in Los Angeles, Ca. ) made plans to attend the funeral being held in Norfolk, Virginia three days later. Because his father had to fly to Virginia in order to attend the funeral on time, he was forced to purchase a FULL-FARE, NON-DISCOUNTED ticket, which round-trip, ended up costing him over $1,100.00. In addition, because of the short-notice involved, there were NO SEATS on ANY flights that would get him to Norfolk in time, so he was forced to FLY into Baltimore, Maryland, RENT a car at the airport and DRIVE the rest of the way to Norfolk. When he arrived in Norfolk, the only hotel available was an upscale one (over $145.00 a-night) which he reluctantly stayed at until he was able to find another room the next day. By the time he returned to California three days later, the trip had cost him close to $1,600.00. His story is NOT that unusual.
Finally, the need was addressed
Based on that experience , and on the fact that there were very few alternatives to such OUTRAGEOUS costs being incurred by those who just lost a loved one, Bereavement Hospitality Services was created.

is designed to understand and relate to the tremendous emotional impact that the loss
or near-loss of a loved one has on those who were close to that person. Our goal is singular:
